Mackage to Launch Handbag Collection

My favorite coat designer Mackage has decided to try their hand at handbags. The Montreal based design duo Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan have decided to expand their line since the first coat hit the sales racks in 2000 and have since expanded with a ready-to-wear collection and a children's coat line.

The collection will range from $225 to $600! And I am so excited and can't wait for the release, which is scheduled to hit the shelves of their SoHo flagship store, Henri Bendel and on July 15th!

Mama needs this black one!

This one looks similar to my "wannabe" Celine bag from ASOS.

What do you think of the samples? Are you as excited as I am?

HeLp HoLa Dual Language Charter School: It's Fashionable to Donate!

As some of you know, Hoboken was severely affected by that blasted super storm. I don't even want to say her name because I hate her so. In any case, my son's school, in turn, was ravaged by the storm. The entire first floor? Wrecked. We also just had the art room, music room, and playground adjacent rebuilt! Just this past year! Well, here's a plea. Please donate to the school that pumps out the cutest little bilingual Spanish/English speakers you'll ever see. I'll even be happy to post a thank you song in your honor sung by the little one if you do.

Here's a little picture to tug at your heartstrings.

Here is an excerpt from the email I received from the school:

"Not only was the school flooded with 4' of water, but the water was contaminated with sewage and with oil from nearby NJ Transit storage tanks. The DEP spent 6 days at HoLa observing the clean-up and testing the walls, floors, soil, etc. We are now left with rebuilding our gym, cafeteria, art & music room, tutoring center/teachers lounge, business office, storage closets and garden.

Unfortunately because of the damage and destruction this storm caused to all of Hoboken, we can't rely on our usual local donors for assistance and are seeking outside help. While we know that there are thousands of people in need and that everyone's resources are worn thin, any amount will help us rebuild and will directly impact the education of our students. Also, please help us reach out beyond our community and forward this email to as many people as you can.

So please donate! Any little bit will help. And I will be forever in your gratitude.

Please Donate!

Aztec Everyday: My Funky Tribal Shoulder Bag

So, another trip to the motherland requires another visit to the "tiangge" at Greenhills. The fleamarket style bazaar that is somewhat of a pilgrimage for Filipinos who travel back and forth from overseas to their native country. They're also known as "balikbayan" as I've mentioned in a previous post. But my latest find during my last whirlwind trip was this gorgeous tribal print flap shoulder bag. The "tiangge" at Greenhills are known for their knockoff items. So, I was tempted to purchase a knockoff of my dream Celine Luggage Tote there. But I do have a philosophy of, "If I can't afford it, I won't wear it". Meaning, I don't wear knock offs. So instead, I opted for the area that sold unique handicrafts that are native to the Philippines. That is where I found my latest treasure. At a whopping 600PHP, $14.50, I purchased (okay, my great-aunt did) this lovely tribal print structured shoulder bag!

After returning from the tiangge, though, my father asked me , "what is this a knockoff of"? My answer, "Nothing DAD! It's just a cool unique item!". I sure do hope so!
Perfect for fall, don't you think?

Tomas Barfod feat Nina Kinert - Till We Die

I've been so bad at blogging lately. I'm sorry. But to appease those who still read my blog. This song is full of soul.

I hope you love it.

Representing my Roots Today

I'm wearing my recent Maria Clara style lace blouse from American Apparel with my go to navy pencil skirt for the office. I'm a big fan of American Apparel (sexual harassment charges aside). I love that their products are made and designed in the USA. They're casual, cool, and versatile.

This blouse was also on sale at 50% off. Originally $44, I purchased this for $22.

Sandals Season!!

I am on a quest to find perfect metallic (gold or bronze) flats for the summer. I have had several pairs but I wear them to a pulp. So they're never repairable. My favorite shoe designer has 2 pairs that I absolutely love. I love this color for its versatility. You can dress it up or it will make a jeans and tshirt look chic. Either pair would work for me. Now onto the task of finding a budget friendly pair that looks similar. Wish me luck!
